Find The Perfect Pair of Wedding Shoes

Wedding Shoes

With so many styles on the market today you are spoilt for choice when choosing your special wedding shoes for your big day. There are lots of factors to consider, for example heel height, you want to be able to walk tall and not totter over down the aisle so make sure you measure the heel height of your favourite shoes to know what you feel comfortable in, this will ensure you don’t go too high. Also the groom’s height is important as you don’t want to be taller than him. Next consider whether you want a pointed toe to peek out of your wedding dress, highly detailed dresses look wonderful with plain pointed toes but if you enjoy a bit of bling then how about having the toes crystalized so they sparkle when you walk. Lots of ladies in our showroom love ankle straps for stability but you do need to have rather slender ankles to pull this off. Comfort is always a key factor on your wedding day. It used to be the case that the more expensive the shoes the more comfortable they were but not now, today's wedding shoes are made of softer satin with padded insoles so even the shoes at £24.99 are reported to be extremely comfortable. Think about whether you prefer a style which is very traditional or a pair that are modern, dyeable which can be worn after the wedding as they can be dyed to a more serviceable colour. There are lots of wonderful wedding styles for the shorter dresses; we adore bows, embellishments and wonderful crystals which truly make a statement plus the new I do stickers for the soles of the wedding shoes will add a special touch. Available in blue for your something blue or clear for a more understated look, whichever you choose they will bring a smile to your guests and grooms face.

Lace shoes are still big news and this trend will carry on into 2013. They are perfect with romantic wedding gowns, short or long and some are even dyeable so you can still wear them after your wedding day. Here at Perdita’s we think that lace looks particularly stunning with a few crystals dotted onto the lace or even the heel covered. See our new lace boots with crystal heels for ideas which can be incorporated onto your shoes by our design team.

Bridal Jewellery: Choose Your Perfect Bridal Set

Bridal Jewellery

Once you have selected your perfect bridal gown take a picture on your phone as you would be amazed what little details you will forget once you leave the shop. The style of your dress is so important when choosing the accessories and this will also help you when choosing your shoes. Your wedding dress shop will have experts in this field so get their opinion before you leave. Ideally you should get the wedding jewellery that compliments your dress and not takes over as the dress is the main feature. If your dress has pearls in then your jewellery should have some pearls in and the same with crystals and if at all possible a matching headdress would look stunning. The overall look should be elegant, just one simple piece of jewellery with a highly detailed dress. Remember our Kate, she just wore those stunning earrings and amazing tiara but no necklace. It is much better to get one amazing piece of jewellery which you can keep and hand down to your future children. We love the collections which contain both water fresh pearls and Swarovski crystals as these really look amazing when on. Make sure you have your jewellery for your dress fitting as you don’t want to be trying it all on for the first time on your wedding day just in case it’s not what you expected. If in doubt then order a few pieces, say necklaces or bracelets to try with your dress as normally retailers will take these back if you’re not happy, earrings can’t be returned but do check the retailers terms beforehand. You can then always buy the earrings at a later date. Why not buy a piece of jewellery for your bridesmaids to wear on the big day and which will also double up as a lovely thank you gift. Don’t forget there are lots of people on hand to help you choose your wedding jewellery, family, friends and of course the internet and magazines.

Bridesmaid Shoes & How To Please Everyone

Bridesmaid Shoes

Choosing the shoes for your bridesmaids can sometimes be a nightmare. So what do you do if your bridesmaids are tall and small and maybe a wider fit, scream, no just visit us where our experienced ladies will be able to help select the perfect styles for their feet shapes. We know that in an ideal world all the bridesmaids would be in matching shoes but as there may be a height difference then letting them select their own shoes and having them all dyed to match would be a much easier option for you and a lot less stress. If they select their own shoes from our dyeable collections then you know that they are much more likely to wear them again after the wedding as our colour studio can dye the shoes to a more serviceable colour.

If you want to go further for the designer look then why not let us add the same embellishment to all the bridesmaids shoes and the brides shoes so that they all look like they have been made just for you. This is a nice touch and growing very popular with our showroom customers who are loving the something different that we design for them.

Matching bags can also be dyed to match and in some instances the initials of the maids have been put onto the bag in clear crystals by our design studio, a nice little touch and a special keepsake for your bridesmaids after the big day.

Here at Perdita’s we love to help you save money therefore we also offer FREE dyeing to our most popular bridesmaid colours with any dyeable purchase. The free colours include silver, chocolate brown, red, champagne, gold, navy, light blue and pink plus purple so you can really save some serious money if you have quite a few bridesmaids to cater for. We are only a phone call away to help so don’t hesitate to ask any questions however small.

Choosing colours, what do they say about you?

Bridesmaids.

Choosing colours, what do they say about you?

1. Red is becoming more and more popular with bridesmaids and even the bride is now wearing her white dress with red wedding shoes, very different. Red stands for passion and is usually chosen by people with an outgoing personality with a zest for life.

2. Pink is for the gentler person and chosen by people who are quite maternal. Pink ladies like to feel loved and crave attention from their partner, they are soft and understanding. Dress in pink and your bridesmaids will feel feminine and beautiful.

3. Yellow is the colour of wisdom and happiness. Yellow ladies have a happy sunny nature and are very shrewd this is the colour of intellectuality.

4. Green is the colour of harmony and balance. Greens love peace and will go to any length to keep that peace. They are very sociable and love to be around people.

5. Blues have very caring natures and are faithful and compassionate. They worry quite a bit as they have a sensitive, understanding personality so think about situations sometimes too much. Wear blue to make you feel relaxed and calm.

6. If you chose Purple you are said to be witty, exciting, controversial and outgoing but with a caring nature but tend to prefer careers where they are the boss. Wearing purple means you are happy to be opening a new chapter in your life.

7. Orange is great for October, November weddings and represents a confident person, sociable with lots of friends and happy with life.

If you all can't decide on the colour and go for all different colours which has been done then one important point to remember is to have all the same shoes in the same colour to tie everything in.

Most of all enjoy colour it's so much fun xx

Mother Of The Bride Shoes & Bags

Mother of The Bride

Gone are the days of floral prints and dreadful ruffle collars now the mother of the bride can choose from some wonderful flattering styles to complement their shape, skin tone and height by asking the free advice of a personal shopper. These shoppers are experienced and wonderfully knowledgeable about the items they sell so do take advantage of this service plus you get to sit down enjoy a coffee while they do the fetching and carrying. This is the bride’s big day but it’s also yours, a proud day so wearing an outfit you feel special in is a real must. Don’t settle for second best but do stay within a budget as the costs can so quickly spiral out of control. There are a lot of beautiful outfits available on the high street, I am thinking Phase Eight as one favourite, not too over the top but elegant designs that ooze youthfulness as the last thing you want is to look older than you are.

We are all quite strapped for cash these days so selecting an outfit that you can wear again would be advisable, think dinner, Christmas and other special occasions. Can you mix the jacket with another dress or add a belt to change the look.

If money is no object (lucky you) do take a look at the Royal dressers, think Mrs Middleton in Catherine Walker and the Duchess of Cornwall in Anna Valentine both located in London they have only the very best selection for Mother Of The Bride.

A must have for Mother Of The Bride is matching shoes and bag as these are going to be an important accessory. Matching shoes and bags show you have taken the time to really think about your outfit plus it makes the whole outfit come together perfectly. Speak to one of our colour studio ladies who will be happy to advice on colour matching your shoes and bag to your outfit. We wouldn’t recommend the same colour but a colour that will tone with your outfit beautifully. Another special point is that Perdita's design studio can enhance your shoes and bag with a beautiful trim giving them an expensive feel but without the high price tag so if you are wearing pearls or just love pearls then we can add a pearl trim to the shoes and bag, not too big as it needs to be sophisticated.

We would love to see your mother of the bride photos for our blog or to hear of some smaller boutiques that you have sourced your outfit from so do let us know.

Summer Wedding Shoes

Shoes for the Summer

Summer is the most popular time to have a wedding. Romantic blossom trees, beautiful colourful flowers and warm summer days. (We hope) You have chosen your summer gown so now is the time to choose your 2nd important purchase, the wedding shoes.

With so many stunning wedding shoes around you will have a difficult task unless you already have a good idea what you are looking for? First decide on what heel height will be comfortable by measuring the heel height of your favourite shoes. Remember your feet will swell on a hot day so comfort is paramount.

Rainbow Club have manufactured the most amazing comfortable shoes with bliss padding around the toes, these really feel like wearing slippers, and as a person with strange feet myself these shoes are the only ones I can wear when attending wedding fairs. I also have many of these dyed in different colours to match my summer dresses because they don't make your feet ache or swell in the heat so these are my absolute favourite.

So many shoes come plain these days which is perfect if your dress has a lot of detailing in but if you just have to have sparkle then the new styles from Rainbow Couture are simply stunning. The high quality crystals on styles Desario and Orvietto sparkle in every light and are well worth the £110 price tag. These can also be dyed after your big day so can be worn for years to come.

Join us in our showroom where you can try on these wonderful styles for yourself or take a look at all the styles on our website.

Wedding Feather Wraps Ideal For Brides & Bridesmaids

Accessories

Winter weddings can be so beautiful, magical and exciting especially around the Christmas season. Think mulled wine, mistletoe and Christmas carols to greet the guests at the reception but sadly the crisp air and snowy days can put some brides off. Do remember the best bargains are to be had as bridal shops discount a wide range of items during this quieter season which usually starts in late September. Don’t let the cold weather put you off either as with a wide range of cover ups available you and your bridesmaids do not need to shiver in the freezing temperatures. Here are our selection of the best wraps and boleros around. First you have the smooth real feather wraps and boleros which are so soft and fluffy and perfect for the bridesmaids. They come in a wide range of popular colours to match or compliment their dresses. Ivory, white, silver, brown, plum and red. If you are unsure as to the difference in a bolero and a wrap you will find that wraps rest on the shoulders and either tie with satin ties or clip with a double hook and eye then you have the bolero which you slip your arms into, short sleeves but much more like a short jacket and really comfortable to wear all day. Some customers prefer this as they are concerned that the wrap will fall off the shoulders but in our experience they are really secure. The ivory and white are also popular choices for the bride. Check out our photo of our lovely customer and her bridesmaids, don’t they look a pretty picture. Then you have the ostrich wraps which have the larger feathers and are particularly suitable for the bride as they are slightly more glamorous, team this with a large oversized crystal brooch for a vintage look and wow what a stunner. Not everyone loves fluff so if the feather versions are not quite what you are looking for then the beautiful range of Joyce Jackson wraps are made in Italian tulle with romantic roses, edging and lace, wonderfully elegant and glamorous. With a range suitable for the vintage dresses then you are spoilt for choice.

Check out our Accessory pages for all the above wraps and boleros.

Your Wedding Budget

Wedding budget.

With weddings now costing an average of £15-20,000 you really do need to set a budget and plan carefully so that you don't go way over and end up in debt before you even start married life. You can have a fantastic wedding for much less than this if you shop around and plan carefully.

Start by visiting a bridal fair, the best one is the NEC Bridal Fair in Birmingham which is held every year and is host to hundreds of wedding suppliers. These range from small businesses to large organisations and are a great place to get a true feel for what is available and of course the all-important costs. Don't forget your notebook and don't be afraid to ask for prices and gather as many leaflets as possible. Getting prices now will help you to decide how elaborate or simple your wedding can be.

Traditionally the bride’s father would pay for the wedding but today it is quite common for the groom’s family to also chip in, this obviously this will depend on circumstances in this uncertain climate but splitting the cost will allow you a larger budget.

Make a list of what is most important to you, your gown, venue, flowers, cake, music, honeymoon and the important photographs and wedding video as these are going to be enjoyed not only for one day but for many many years to come, personally I wouldn’t skimp on this part.

The most expensive is usually the reception venue depending on how many guests you entertain. Do remember that only close relatives and friends should attend the reception then everyone can come in the evening for the buffet. Also bear in mind what dietary and mobility requirements your guests will need when looking at venues. To keep costs down why not ask if you can supply your own wine and pay corkage.

Next are the outfits. Most important item is going to be your dress, all eyes will be on you so don’t skimp on this part as believe me you will regret it. If you know your wedding date over a year in advance try to buy items during the winter months when shops and websites are more quiet and willing to offer great discounts. Don't be afraid to ask most like us will be only too happy to help.

Also set up a wedding account and save monthly yourselves which will also help when it comes to the honeymoon and any additional extras that just seem to pop up at last minute.

Above all enjoy the wedding preparations it should be lots of fun not lots of stress as you will miss it when its over.

Good Luck xx
